Sundays Bundesliga Preview: Bremen And Wolfsburg Must Win
Thomas Schaaf Will Have The Heaviest Heart In Bremen If His Side Lose Again.
Saturdays games saw the Bundesligas main title challengers all pick up positive results, which puts the pressure on Werder Bremen and Wolfsburg who should be challenging for at least European football to get positive results themselves. Lets get to the games.
Werder Bremen v St. Pauli
If theres any team that Werder Bremen fans will expect their side to beat at home, its newly promoted St. Pauli. Still, its so hard to see Bremen beating anybody on this kind of form. Theyve been appalling for so long now that Im sure even Werder Bremens most die-hard supporters will be worried about their sides recent defensive catastrophies. I really hope, for Thomas Schaafs sake, that Werder Bremen get the three points here. They badly need the win and if they do get it, it might just lift the squad a little bit and put them on a decent run. Theyve got a plethora of injuries throughout the squad, so we may see the same kind of makeshift side we saw against Tottenham in mid-week. I just hope it doesnt get embarrassing. They really are in dire condition!
FC Koln v VfL Wolfsburg
Wolfsburg look so impressive on paper, but theyve failed to deliver this season under Steve McClaren. Away to Koln is never easy, but the home side have been in poor form and Wolfsburgs quality should guide them to a win. The pressure is mounting on the English manager, and hell know that he needs to start racking up some major points if he wants to challenge for a European spot this season. Dzeko and Grafite are always reliable, but the rest of the squad hasnt been as consistent as McClaren would have hoped. They need to get back to winning ways, and this is a great place to start.
