Shut up! Cole told to belt up and start scoring

AVRAM GRANT yesterday told outspoken England star Carlton Cole: Shut up and start scoring.

Grant is set to axe misfiring Cole after he went public and criticised the West Ham tactics during the week.

Cole branded Saturdays 3-0 defeat at Liverpool as diabolical and then confessed the players were deflated.

He also questioned Grants leadership, claiming the manager did not have a Plan B when his tactics were not
working.

Yesterday Grant responded by stating players should take their gripes directly to him and not air complaints in public.

He also had a thinly-veiled dig at Cole, pointing out he had not moaned to the media about the 27-year olds lack of goals this season.

Cole has scored just once this season in 17 appearance and has dropped down the England pecking order
behind Boltons Kevin Davies, 33, and Championship player Jay Bothroyd, of Cardiff.

Asked if he was planning to select Cole for his squad, Grant would only say: You need to wait and see.

He added: I encourage the players to be honest in my office.

I have said to them many times that Im not going to the press to say I dont like the defence because they have conceded a lot of goals or this striker because he has scored only two goals. So I expect them, if they have something to say, to say it in my office.
!
I havent told them they cant do interviews for the media. They can do that, but I like it more when they think about
what they say.

He also said he was happy for his men to have digs at each other and him in team meetings

In our meetings they can say whatever they like. I have no problem with that, he added
