Fernando Torres will stay at Liverpool

FERNANDO TORRES is staying put at Liverpool.

New reds boss Roy Hodgson yesterday revealed that the Spanish hotshot will return to training on Monday and is looking forward to another season at Anfield.

Torres future has been in doubt all summer after Liverpool endured a dismal season that cost Rafa Benitez his job and saw the club fail to qualify for the Champions League.

Real Madrid, Chelsea and Manchester City have all been waiting in the wings to pounce for the World Cup winner.

But Hodgson insists they are wasting their time as Torres will be back at Anfield next week. Hes told us hes looking forward to getting back to work and playing for us next season, said Hodgson.

Thats what we know. Hes told us hes looking forward to coming back here on Monday.

Meanwhile, Hodgson has pledged to play hardball with want-away star Javier Masherano. As Starsport revealed on Tuesday the Argentine skipper wants to quit Liverpool after three-and-a-half years to be reunited with Benitez at Inter Milan.

! But Hodgson warned his 25m-rated star he is going nowhere until the club receives an acceptable offer. Hodgson added: Yes, he wants to leave the club. He is contracted to us until such time the club decides to accept an offer.

Whether he leaves or not is our decision. I expect him to be a Liverpool player until that time.
