Jets play out fizzer for Tinkler opener

Melbourne Victory and Newcastle Jets have played out a tame 0-0 draw for Nathan Tinkler's first game in charge of the Novocastrians. The local public turned out in force for the match, but the Jets couldn't meet expectations as Branko Culina's team failed to test the Victory goal. The best chance of the game arrived midway through the second-half, with Ricardinho slipping through unmarked only to be thwarted by Jets goalkeeper Ben Kennedy.Just over 8,600 turned out on the night and Jets management will hope they return after swinging open the gates for those under 15 years of age.Meanwhile, Ken Edwards, who has been drafted in to work under Tinkler, confirmed the club's new powerbroker's financial commitment will only run to March 31, 2011.
