Carling Cup Highlights

Uniteds first teamers lined up against the self-styled best team in Lincolnshire, Scunthorpe, for the 3rd round of the Carling Cup last night. No wait, thats not right is it? Ah yes, got it now. A total team change from the Liverpool match, including the manager in fact (Fergie was in Spain checking out Valencia, soon-to-be Champions League opposition), lined up against a Scunthorpe who did themselves proud. They didnt bow down and made a good game of it. The venom behind some of their long range shots would have put Roberto Carlos to shame. Well, almost. Point is, they played their role in making the match entertaining.

Highlights from the match are below. I think a goal may have been missed out somewhere but the majority of the action is present. The reason this post may seem a little light on United references is that this was a fairly routine Carling Cup match for them. The upsets came in the form of Northampton taking out Liverpool, Newcastle knocking out Chelsea and West Brom eliminating Man City. Several big teams went out early, good news for United, who will be looking to retain the Cup for the third time in a row. Enjoy the highlights.
