Mancini hints at Torres bid

Roberto Mancini has hinted that Liverpool's asking price could dictate whether Manchester City will make a bid for Fernando Torres. Spain international Torres' future at Liverpool remains uncertain after Roy Hodgson revealed the striker has a 'beef' with the club. The situation has led to reports that City are preparing a British transfer record bid of 60million as Mancini seeks to build a squad capable of winning the Premier League.Mancini, who is also pursuing Aston Villa midfielder James Milner, is a fan of Torres and is not ruling out a move for the former Atletico Madrid star.

One of the best

"Torres is one of the best strikers in Europe and is already playing in the Premier League for three years and knows it very well," said Mancini. "But it depends on his situation - his price and whether he wants to come."There are two or three strikers that we could go for, but it is the same situation as it is with James Milner. "First there is the price and then it depends if the players want to change team. Until today, Liverpool haven't bought many players."Milner continues to interest Mancini but, after spending heavily already this summer, the City boss insists the club will not be held to ransom."When Manchester City enquire about a 10million player, the club asks for 20million. That is not good for us," said Mancini."James is still a player who interests us, but only at the right price." Barclays Prem Top Goalscorer 2010/11: Torres, F. 9/2
