Exclusive picture: New Arsenal home kit revealed

Spot-the-difference-New-Arsenal-kit

Arsenal have revealed their new home kit for the 2010-11 season - and MirrorFootball has this exclusive first picture of Thomas Vermaelen wearing the retro-style Nike shirt.

The classic design has already proved a big hit with the big Belgian defender. “I really like this new kit. It’s the typical colours for Arsenal, white and red, and it’s really nice. Every club has their own traditional colours. For Arsenal it’s red and white and that’s the way it’s supposed to be.”

If the kit's '70s-styled design is traditional, then the technology behind it is cutting edge. Every shirt is made entirely from recycled polyester, crafted from up to eight plastic water bottles as part of Nike’s ‘Considered Design’ programme, which sees discarded plastic bottles diverted from landfills to be used in the manufacturing process.

Vermaelen also praised the kit’s recycled makeup: “It’s good I think, these days the environment is really important for the world and it’s good that Nike cares about that.”

The new kit officially goes on sale from Thursday July 29, but you can pre-order it TODAY from www.arsenal.com and through Club outlets.

Felix Magath Is The Man To Lead Schalke To Success This Season Despite An Awful Start. Schalke ended a five-match losing streak on Wednesday evening after they pulled off a last-minute win away to Freiburg. Few could see, after so many disappointing defeats, how Magaths side would be able to pick themselves up with morale seemingly in the dumps throughout the squad. Despite that, Felix Magaths side grabbed their first win of the season and will now have their eyes on a push towards the Bundesliga summit. While its unlikely, Schalke have an x-factor that makes them a real dark-horse for the Bundesliga title this season. That x-factor is Felix Magath. In the 20082009 season, Magath was head coach at VfL Wolfsburg, a side who had never before won the Bundesliga. Magath changed that. In the most unlikely way, Felix Magath led Wolfsburg to their very first Bundesliga title which is definitely an achievement that will make Magath a massive part of history with Die Wolfe. The year after, in t...
