Top Premier League bosses give their verdict on Rooney's decision

TOP Premier League bosses were quick to give their views on the Rooney deal yesterday.This is what they said:

CARLO ANCELOTTI

(Chelsea): Everyone knows the ability of Rooney, so Im not surprised that he has signed a new contract at United.
If he signs a contract, then hes happy to stay there and Manchester United are happy to keep a
fantastic player.

Why has he changed his mind? You have to ask Wayne Rooney, not me.

ARSENE WENGER

(Arsenal): Certainly Rooney has got the guaran- tees he wanted you can translate that like you want, but thats it.

It was just a story that from the start to the end, was of no interest to me. When I saw the headlines I
just turned the page.

I was never really interested in that story because what happened with Wayne Rooney happens to every club, every year plenty of times.

It was certainly a story, but it is a classical story which happens in everyclub, every week, so I could never understand what was really special in this case.


GERARD HOULLIER

(Aston Villa): I think in the end I would say, all sides win because I wouldnt imagine Rooney outside of
United.

I like the boy, I like the manager, it is a good club, and he probably made the right decision regarding contracts.

But you never know what happens. Ronaldo had a contract as well and he left and when a player wants to leave maybe you can delay that for one or two years.

It is not good when a player has nine or 10 clubs and I think Rooney has taken the right decision in his development, whatever happens next year.


AVRAM GRANT

(West Ham): If you read between the lines, Rooney wanted to stay and Manchester United wanted him.

You dont know what goes on behind closed doors.

I dont want money instead of the values of the game. I think a few of the people involved are losing this value in football.

When we were 20 we hought we knew everything, but now we know we didnt. A few agents take advantage of players and thats not right.


DAVID MOYES

(Everton): I know Wayne and Sir Alex and they are a good match. The partner- ship at Manchester United
is a good fit.
