Did Nani Cheat With His Controversial Goal Against Spurs? (Video)

Image
On Saturday, Manchester Uniteds Nani scored a goal against Tottenham Hotspur which was extremely controversial and will be the topic of many conversations over the next few days. Looking at it again and again, the goal was a result of poor sportsmanship by Nani and a mix-up in communication between Spurs goalkeeper Heurehlo Gomes and the referee and assistant referee. The incident happened after Nani made a run inside the Tottenham box late in the second half. There was minimal contact on Nani but he continued to run into the box and then dived to the ground and handled the ball. At this point, it appeared that Gomes believed that a free kick had been awarded to Spurs, so as he prepared to take it and waited for his players to get into permission, Nani ran near the ball and poked it past Gomes into the net. Nani celebrated in front of the Stretford End as Clattenburg ran over to his assistant to discuss the incident. After a brief discussion, the goal was awarded to Manchester United. ...

Everything and anything

Been a bit busy with university lately and havent been able to post regularly. So I am pausing for thought now on a variety of issues, probably none in detail, but hopefully vaguely interesting to read. Shaun covered the midweek Carling Cup match against Wolves where we once again had to worship at the expanding altar that is Chicharito. While Rooney is somewhere next to the pool at a Dubai hotel, this little Mexican star has really been proving his worth. Hes coped well with a transition to English football and the pressure just doesnt seem to faze him, he just responds perfectly to it, just like Ole Solskjaer used to. You can see many similarities between them (though as much as I love Solskjaer I will concede that Chicharito is probably a little bit quicker). Just hope now that people dont expect too much of him, he is still young, but as none of us knew who he was before we signed him, we can only look at him with pleasant surprise. Difficult game at home against Tottenham today. C...

Charlie Adam Takes On Blackpool

Image
In a worrying development for Ian Holloway and Blackpool, club captain Charlie Adam will take his club to a Premier League arbitration court next week over unpaid bonuses. Adam is set to take the club to court over unpaid payments after the Seasiders avoided relegation from the Championship. While Adam of course is right to ask for the money he is owed, you have to doubt his timing. Blackpool have had an excellent start to the season, and in many ways it has been completely unexpected, but their success has been built on the momentum and togetherness that has been created under the charismatic Ian Holloway. Looking at Blackpool from an outsiders perspective the one thing that is noticeable is how all the players seem to singing from the same hymn sheet. You have to feel that Adams lack of patience could really damage their bid for survival. Why didnt he wait for till the end of the season to make his demands? There wouldnt have been a fall in the legitimacy of his claim and while there...

Lets get to it then! FC Koln v Hamburg SV Zvonimir Soldos sacking as manager of Koln has brought about an instant bit of success, coming in the form of Kolns 31 win over 1860 Munich in the DFB Pokal in mid-week. Whether or not caretaker manager Frank Schaefer will be able to keep that up against Hamburg, who were convincingly thrashed 52 by Frankfurt in the Pokal in midweek, is a whole other story. Koln will definitely be playing against the odds, because Armin Veh will urge his side to right the wrong they inflicted on their fans in midweek...
